What on earth is a Geo Race?
Aside from being an incredibly fun way to motivate and build bonds between employees, a Geo Race is basically a high-tech, task oriented "amazing race" style scavenger hunt using hand-held GPS units and other equipment.
It is fun, challenging, healthy, and tests locals on their knowledge, yet also introduces those from out of town to the layout and culture of downtown Halifax.
How the event is set up for your group:
We have created playing areas that are approximately 1 square KM for the Geo Race to take place. This can be in urban areas (downtown Halifax, Dartmouth, Truro, Sydney etc.) or park areas (Point Pleasant, Shubie Park, etc.) We will plant 20- 30 physical items (geocaches) in the playing area ahead of time for your group to find. Once we plant the geocaches, we will record the geographical location data for each cache and pre program all of the GPS units to be used during the event. This leaves more time for fun on your end.
How things get started:
Our staff will greet your group at a specified location at the arranged time and explain the game, its concept and rules. Next we'll organize your group into teams of 4-5 persons with each team receiving a GPS unit, printed map, list of custom (specific for your group) hidden caches with an associated clue and point value. Detailed, comprehensive instruction on how to use the GPS units effectively will be provided before teams set simultaneously to race with a specific return time. Once the race begins, our staff will rove the 1 square km paying area on bicycles, monitoring caches and checking in on teams to ensure they are having fun and understanding how to use the equipment properly.
So how do teams find the Geocaches?
For every item (geocache) we hide, we'll pre-program those locations into the GPS units. Each team will use their provided hand held GPS unit, map and list of clues to find the caches. They are encouraged to work together and plan a strategy in order to search out and find as many geocaches as possible while also getting the highest point value. Each geocache will contain a series of point tickets with incremented values so that the first team to reach it gets more points and so on. Depending on options chosen, point tickets may also provide instruction for tasks or information to be gathered.
The Finale!
When groups reach the finish point at the designated time, our staff will count the point tickets and award a winning team(s). If you`d like to present your own prizes to teams, just let us know in advance and our staff will be happy to assist you.

Waiver: All participants will be required to sign a release of liability waiver.
Payment: A deposit is not required, however we do expect full payment on the day of the event by company cheque or e-transfer.
Cancellation:A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for any or all guests not attending.
